About
My name is Isabella Wimmer
I was born and raised in Austria by Romanian immigrant parents, and at 15, I moved to Argentina for an exchange year. Upon my return, I attended an International Boarding School. My diverse upbringing inspired me to study Social Anthropology in the UK, where I stayed for three years post-graduation to work as a Production Assistant in the Film & TV industry. This year, at 25 years old, I wanted to shift my career trajectory slightly to work in editorial, development, and storytelling, and the idea of this blog was born.

Why another blog?
I often wonder, in this influencer-saturated market, why I should indulge them. Well, why should you? As a consumer, I was getting frustrated with the type of content social media inundated me with.
Firstly, I am tired of weekly new obsessions and favourites just because there is a new product launch. How can you be so obsessed with a product if another one can replace it as a fave within a matter of days? This does not and shouldn't reflect the purchasing habits of the average person. Especially, having moved countries multiple times, I was sick of falling prey to overconsumption myself. It made me realise how easily I was duped into buying the newest fashion trends, which I ended up disliking within a matter of a few years. My mom has pieces in her closet that are older than me and have withstood the test of time as a fashion classic. When did her generation's purchasing habits end in our wasteful pattern? I blame current sensationalised influencer content on social media.
Secondly, I am not a fan of the cultural commentary happening on social media, which is, quite frankly, often giving bullying. More than not, the victims of the newest hate train surround women, and what's worse, I find that it often has nothing to do with their art itself. Some creators want to gain followers by riding on someone else's tailcoats, especially by dragging them into the mud. Unfortunately, the more outrageous the claims, the more they are rewarded on social media with views and likes, effectively changing our cultural value system.
This leads me to my last point of why I think blogs need to make a comeback. My favourite influencers and content creators all started out with a blog but have ceased operation to switch to podcasts or Socials entirely. As someone who collected magazines as a child, always begging my mom to grab me a new issue when she went grocery shopping, and saving my pocket money to buy the more expensive international issues from the Kiosk at the train station, I always admired the amount of thinking, planning, designing, writing, editing, proofing, brainstorming that must go into creating creative content. Similarly, I always thought of blogs as niche, editorial, digital magazines. Social media has become the main platform of information dissemination in today's digital age, but with algorithms revealing content I don't even want to see, but it is shown due to its virality, regardless, I want to create digital platforms where thinking before posting is paramount to its success and not vice-versa.
How are we different?
In order to avoid the influencer mistakes that frustrated me as a consumer, I wanted to create a digital space with a holistic approach to lifestyle without the need to break the bank and conform to new trends and releases every few months.
For example, I have tried the best skincare from drugstore, K-Beauty, and high end, but it only ever works when I eat clean, sleep well, and break a sweat regularly. This means, I want to promote skincare I trust, but I will always remind you that your money cannot buy you miracles the way that mindset and lifestyle habits can, and for that, there is no affiliate link I can share.
In addition, I want to use this space to highlight tools, techniques, products, and art I enjoyed, and not to trash someone else's work. Not with my face and government name on the internet!
Mostly, I want you to come to this blog with a problem and find solutions that you can implement for free and only purchase when needed. And not every piece needs to be a product recommendation. Some information is priceless, anyway. All in all, I want this space to be positive, humorous, and peaceful.

Why me?
I base my "civilian-expertise" on the topics of self-development, health & well-being, and arts & culture on the following premises:
1. My mom is a fully trained and certified Life/Mental/Social-Coach, and I grew up with her wealth of knowledge served on a silver platter. Even my friends talk to her about their concerns, and it made me realise how lucky I am. If only more people could benefit from her! Luckily, there is the peace of mind section ;)
2. I grew up overweight, hating sports, spotty skin, and with frizzy curly hair I did not know how take care of since I am the only one in my family. As a teenager, I decided to take advantage of the information readily available online, and I started to intensely study cosmetics, nutrition, fitness, wellness habits, etc. After six years, I really should get an honorary degree, but I enjoy explaining ingredients to Sephora employees, too. So, for them, and my friends who have listened, I present peace of body (while I am very much still on a journey myself, hence my muffin top xx).
3. The pandemic came with many lessons, but the one that stood out for me is how reliant I am on art in order to live a happy and fulfilled life. The minute lockdown was over, and I became financially independent, I decided that I want to spend my time and money on books, cinema, TV shows, fashion, makeup, art, theatre, and travel! Ultimately, I wanted to combine all of my soul food interests into pieces for peace of soul.
